Take them with you to the supermarket – whether you shop at Tesco, Waitrose  or Sainsburys.  What could be more chic and useful than baskets for grocery shopping?

They add such a lovely touch to running your errands, and they are also very long-lasting, so you will be able to use them again and again.

Palm leaf market baskets with leather handles have been used by French women for many generations as grocery bags, especially when going to the farmer’s market.  In these eco-conscious days when we are all being asked to re-use our bags at the supermarket they make an attractive alternative to plastic bags.  Do your bit to help save the planet.  At just £15 and £17 our baskets are an affordable answer to the problem of reusable bags.

Our market baskets are a very chic way to carry your towels, sunglasses, sunscreen, picnic food and swimming accessories to the beach or pool.  They are incredibly tough and robust – in fact we find it quite amazing just how much you can pack into them.  You don’t have to take ugly bags and plastic carriers when you have a super-duper market basket, and because they are made of natural materials they are perfectly suited to the sea and sand.

Harvest time is another opportunity to gt the most from  your market baskets – we use them for collecting vegetables from the allotment and they are also very useful for carrying a huge amount of apples!  if they get a bit muddy don’t despair – a damp cloth rubbed over the surface of the basket will keep it looking great, and the older the get the better they look!  A battered old market basket will still be giving you great service in the garden as an easy way to carry small garden tools, and indispensable when taking those pesky weeds to the compost bin.

Market baskets in winter offer a very practical way of storing kindling wood or carrying small logs into the house.  They look great next to the fireplace.  They also look cute and very decorative during Christmas time to hold wrapped presents.
